This was the worst tax app they've ever done I went to them again this year because it was so convenient last year.so when you upload your documents with the my h&r block app it doesn't even file it you have to get a separate app and your documents aren't even transferred. And they make you pay this year to recover your documents from last year, when I payed last year for them to save my taxes. This prick is sponsored. You're review is useless, and probably damaging to people like me.

That's not an issue of TurboTax - that's how you setup your LLC and elect to be taxed. Is your LLC an s-corp or c-corp. If not, you're taxed as a sole proprietor or partnership based on your structure.

How does the car registration deduction page work?? I didn’t understand that at all. It asks you for the deductible amount from what you paid for car registration, but my reg card only shows the total amount I paid. I called the DMV and the rep told me he just tells his CPA that total amount listed on his reg card. Not helpful.

    • The College Investor
The College Investor 17 ngày trước

I couldn't tell you - it varies by state. In CA, they break down the car registration into about 5 line items, and one of them specifically says "potentially tax deductible".

I have a small private student loan that will be paid off next month. My credit credit card will be paid off in August. I don't have a car payment; however, I am in school getting my second master's degree and this time I am paying for it with cash. I just applied for another position within the organization of which I work and it would be a significant increase in pay. I just interviewed last week. All to say, have a plan and work it.

Do all of the options you discussed in your video link with your bank account? That is the biggest hurdle for me... • The College Investor

Quickbooks links with everything I use - multiple banks and credit cards, as well as Gusto for payroll. I recommend using a bookkeeping service (like these in the video) versus Quicken, which is more geared towards personal finance tracking. I build a wall between my business finances and personal finances and don't mix the two.

The math doesn't change - but the ease of use to find and enter all of your information correctly does make a difference. If you don't know you're supposed to enter something, or you didn't know about certain tax credits or deductions, you can see big swings.

Here is my big problem with it. I wanted to direct deposit my refund in my bank account so I put in my routing number and my account number and finished up and it came back that the IRS turned it down because it couldn't find my router number so I went back and entered it again. It came back again refused so I went back and fixed it again. The same thing came back again and again . I don't know how many times I tried this. I checked the number again to see if it was right and it still came back refused and wrong again. I really was fed up by know and a notice came up to use an alternative. I could use a direct deposit in a American Express debit card or just have it mailed . I didn't want to have it mailed because of so many nightmares of lost mail. So I decided to look into the American Express debit card, I really didn't want so to see what they were offering. They wanted me to log in using my email and a password, so I did. That is where I went wrong, Doing this made me an account holder with American Express. I didn't really want. I tried too cancel the account and the phone number they give gives you a computerized reply. So I couldn't cancel the account but I didn't finish registering but I don't think that I will make any difference because they sent me a debit card anyway.

Thanks for the helpful video and information here! I have a question for you about my current situation. So I have been in a rehabilitation program since last July and waited to file my tax return last year until July when I got a job and got in touch with the FAMS rehab program for student loans. So after I was enrolled in the repayment program and paying monthly, after my very first payment, I filed my taxes e-file and everything went smoothly and I received my return and all was well. So I have been STILL PAYING EVERY MONTH , 1 MONTHLY PAYMENT TO FAMS AND so then I didn't think their would be any problem filling my taxes this year because I've NOT missed 1 single payment to them and currently am still in the repayment program NOW!!! So I filed e-file, everything seemed good and I figured I'd receive my return in my bank account this coming week from the where's my refund app and the progress it showed in the bar. But suddenly, I logged in to that app and it said tax code 203 (or something like that...) Then I called the number and it said I have 1 Offset from the US department of education !!! How the hell would that happen and why would it suddenly this year have an Offset After being in the FAMS rehab program and paying promptly and on time monthly....!?!?!?:( It sucks because I never expected it ! Can you tell me step by step instructions to get my refund BACK TO ME BECAUSE I DO BELIEVE THAT I SHOULD BE ABLE TO PROVE THAT I SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD AN OFFSET .... RIGHT!?!? Any advice or guidance would be super appreciated!!!!!! Possibly email me too if your that eager to help out lol ! Thanks again. hayslivinthedream@gmail.com

Using the iPad can I take a picture of the W-2 and 1099 INT to download pertinent info to the program? When do I elect to print a copy of the return? Is the copy of the return complete with the full 1040 and any other schedules? I haven't tried the iPad version of the app, but yes, you can take pictures of your forms to input (even though most of these forms only have a few pieces of info to enter). I had no problem with credit Karma. I usually file my taxes at the bank for $75 but I compared what the bank was giving me and it was right on, the same Karma had quoted me. I just get to keep my $75 this year. Thanks Credit Karma.....

I've always wondered if you can do more than one tax return with TurboTax or H&R Block. What I mean is, can I do mine and also do my adult sons? Or, can you only do one complete return??

    • DifferentKindofGlam
      DifferentKindofGlam 2 tháng trước

Yeah you can make several. My friend filed herself and her boyfriend's too on turbo tax.

    • The College Investor
The College Investor 2 tháng trước

Yes, you can definitely do more than one return. On the desktop software, it's easy. Online, you have to make different accounts for each return.

I hope you can address this concern regarding health coverage. In 2018 I was uninsured for 3 months (January-March)then after my employer closed down for business so I became jobless for another 2 months (April-May).On June I found a new job but in order to start getting coverage my employer required me 2 months probation so (June-July). From there i had coverage for 5 months (August-December) Will I get a penalty?

    • The College Investor
The College Investor 2 tháng trước

Yes, you'll pay a penalty. Since you had coverage for 5 months, you'll pay 7/12 of the annual penalty. You're going to pay 7/12 of either $695 per adult or 2.5% of household income. Here's a breakdown: www.healthcare.gov/fees/fee-for-not-being-covered/

Thank you for the review. I just switched from the Windows version to the Mac version. So far, it is fine for what it is, but the Windows version is way more versatile. But I will stick with the Mac version.

You’re right - the windows version is so much more versatile. Hopefully the Mac version catches up soon.

    • The College Investor
The College Investor 2 tháng trước

What about it? Depending on your situation, you likely still won’t pay much if anything in taxes. We don’t have a video on this, but check this out: thecollegeinvestor.com/22725/student-loan-debt-forgiveness-insolvency/

for you is easy but for me is so hard i don't know how to do at all

    • Donna Morrow
      Donna Morrow 15 ngày trước

@Johnny Stars- search VN-plus and Google for anything you do not understand. Like "how to do a 1040EZ," "how to do a 1040A," "what is a W-2," "Which deduction should I use?" "What does filing status mean?" and so on. You really can do this, Johnny. It is very simple addition and subtraction. Also, if you want them to, the IRS will file your federal tax return for you free. Google that for more information, pro and con, and procedure to use. Honestly, very simple. You can also ask the IRS for a free extension time if you are not finished filing your taxes by April 15, 2019.

    • The College Investor
The College Investor 2 tháng trước

You should eFile at the end - where H&R Block sends your return electronically. You can opt for print and file, but we don't recommend it.

    • The College Investor
The College Investor 2 tháng trước

Yes, you’re considered self employed for any tax software you use (TaxSlayer included), so you’ll likely pay. If you want a free option look at Credit Karma Tax - but there are limits and you may not be able to use it. Check this: thecollegeinvestor.com/18920/credit-karma-tax-software-review/

If I sold stocks on stash and acorns do I have to file that in?

    • The College Investor
The College Investor 2 tháng trước

Yes, you would report any gains or losses you had on the sale. Stash and Acorns will send you a form 1099-B that reports this. You also will be paying for this on TurboTax. Check this out: thecollegeinvestor.com/21156/the-best-tax-software/

Are you able to input info to see if it worth it before sending or as you input does it go directly to irs? I use h&r block every year but I wanted to see if this would be cheaper, but I want the option to see the outcome before submitting, that way if I don't like it I would go back to h&r block.

    • The College Investor
The College Investor 2 tháng trước

Of course you can see everything before you submit. You only pay when you submit at the end. Realize that the number (your refund or what you owe) will be the same no matter which tax software you use. TurboTax is typically more expensive than H&R Block.

Hello, I used this year a local remote tax services, I am very disappointed of their services online but I did file my taxes with them. Can I re check my tax filing with hrblock or TurboTax without submitting just to compare how accurate was my accounting or you have to pay upfront. I just want to verify the numbers. Thanks in advance

    • The College Investor
The College Investor 2 tháng trước

You only pay when you file so of course you can add all your info and see the result. Remember, the math never changes if done correctly. The only difference is price.

    • The College Investor
The College Investor 2 tháng trước

Of course, you can do that with any tax software. The question is, will it be free to file? And for a basic W2 with AOTC, yes, but there could be other things on your return that make you pay.
